Level 1 Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector

The aim of this course is to allow learners to develop, learn and practice the skills needed for a future career in either the Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy sector.

Entry requirements:

No formal entry requirements are required but you will be expected to have a positive attitude and good attendance.

What you will learn:

The units studied will enable you to gain a general understanding of the range of services and treatments available, and include:
  • Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
  • Presenting a professional image
  • Follow health & safety in the salon
  • Shampoo & condition hair
  • Styling hair
  • Skin care
  • Provide basic manicure
  • Working in the hair & beauty sector
  • Provide basic pedicure
  • Salon reception duties

Training with us doesn’t just prepare you for working in salons, you could go into Teaching, become a Stylist to the stars, or even continue your studies with a Foundation Degree in Management for Hairdressing Industries, the perfect way to start your plans for running your own Hairdressing business.

The local average annual wage on entry into a career in Hairdressing - depending on qualification - is £10,000 - £11,000

What Next:

On successful completion of the qualification, candidates may progress to a level 2 programme in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.
